Willcox Savage is especially pleased to welcome two new partners to the firm.
Christopher A. Abel has joined the firm as a partner and practices in our Norfolk office. He was previously with Troutman Sanders.
Chris represents maritime clients in a wide variety of matters, including admiralty and maritime law, maritime insurance defense and subrogation, and employment law. Chris will be leading the firm's maritime practice. He also advises and represents employers in a variety of other industries around the country who face employment law challenges, both in and out of court.
Prior to entering private law practice, Chris served for sixteen years as a commissioned officer and law specialist in the United States Coast Guard, eventually reaching the rank of Commander. He also served an extended tour with the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps and later served as the principal assistant legal officer for the Coast Guard's Mid-Atlantic region.
Chris has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America in the area of Maritime and Admiralty Law, and has been acknowledged as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine. He was also named a Virginia Super Lawyer in the area of Transportation and Maritime Law.
Chris teaches courses in both Admiralty and Employment Law at the College of William and Mary, where he has been named the school's 2011-2012 St. George Tucker Adjunct Professor of Law.
He received his J.D. from the College of William and Mary, a M.A. from Old Dominion University and a B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Gregory A. Giordano has joined the firm as a partner and practices in our Virginia Beach office. He was previously with Troutman Sanders. Greg represents companies in the areas of labor law, employment law and commercial litigation matters.
He is the former President of both the Virginia Beach Bar Association and the Tidewater Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Greg has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Labor and Employment Law Litigation. He has also been acknowledged as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine, and was named a Virginia Super Lawyer.
Greg teaches labor law at the College of William and Mary. He is also a former lecturer in labor law at Old Dominion University, a former adjunct Professor of Law at Regent University, the author of numerous articles and a frequent lecturer at various seminars.
He received both his J.D. and A.B. from the College of William and Mary.
