Best Lawyers in America has named Willcox Savage lawyer Wiley F. Mitchell, Jr. as the "Norfolk Best Lawyers Railroad Lawyer of the Year" for 2011. Mr. Mitchell is an active member of the firm's Commercial Litigation and Government Relations practice groups. A significant portion of his practice also involves serving as an arbitrator, particularly in controversies surrounding railroad issues.
Prior to joining Willcox Savage, Mr. Mitchell served as Senior General Counsel for Norfolk Southern Corporation, where he was responsible for all of its casualty, FELA and insurance litigation. Mr. Mitchell served in the Virginia Senate and on the Alexandria City Council for over twenty years. He is also a former president and current executive committee member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
